Foreword#
Hello! This is going to be my student blog for the 2023-2024 ULB class “How To Make (almost) Any Experiments Using Digital Fabrication”. I hope that by the end of the course I will be able to make my website look nice and maybe even help you with some of the steps I did. I am really excited to do this class because it seems like a really different approach from what we usually do my studies and I think it is going to be a challenging yet enriching process.
About me#
Hey mate! I am Lukas. I am currently studying bioengineering at the marvelous Fac des Sciences de l’ULB based in Brussels. I’m currently in my third and last year of bachelor. I’m 20 years old and my main passions in life are science and doing sports. ๐๐งฌ

My background#
I was born in a nice city called Duesseldorf in Germany, where i spent the 4 first years of my life. Then, I moved to Brussels in 2007 and I spent the rest of my youth there. I have a very big and happy family with 7 little siblings.๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ
I chose to study bioengineering because it’s a nice mix of more or less every scientific field, and since I love science, I thought it was the best choice to do. I dont have any plans for my master next year, but I think I will leave the ULB to see something different, maybe even abroad.
Previous work#
I’m sorry to disappoint you guys but, unfortunately, I don’t have any background in a field related with this class, like 3D printing or programming. The only thing I can show you is a python program I did last year for my informatics class. The assignment was about making a random DNA sequence without tandem repetitions, which sounds difficult and boring (only the latter is true) However, during my agronomics class of last year, we had to visit a farm in pairs and make a report, which was a very impressive and enrichening experience.
